brown Algae

How can I get kill brown Algae and keep it out and leave my lights on 10 hr a day. I had it all over my tank 55gal., so I turn off my lights for three weeks and I all most lost some of my coral. I can't stand brown algae. I is just ugly.

What kind of algae is it? Is it on the sand or the rocks? What are your params? How old are your lights? I would definitely cut down on the light time. I only leave mine on for 6 hours. After I changed my schedule from 8 hours to 6, my hair algae problem slowly disappeared.
