Brown alge help

brown algae ( diatoms ) is normal for a new tank for the first few weeks then eventually it turns green. when i started my tank about 2 months ago i had a diatom bloom for the first 2 weeks then eventually it died down a bit and now its turning green
a few factors can contribute to this such as :
1) topping off your tank with tap water ( depending on where you live your tap water might/will have phosphates and nitrates and other heavy metals also contributing to brown algae )
2) activated carbon from your filter ( phosphates leached into the DT can lead to diatom blooms )
