brown alge in 46g

latey there has been a lot of brown hairy alge in my tank probibly because of the tap water i was using. i have bought and r/o unit and have done 2 10g water changes 3 days apart. how long untill the brown alge will start to die off or is there something else i could be doing?

I would try to do a bigger water change than that. Especially if you were using tap water for a long time. I would do half. Give it a good kickstart. Do you have a phosphate reactor also? That would help...

i dont have a reactor but i have done 50g in waterchanges the last 3 days it looks like its not coming back as fast but is still comes up on the sand about 3-5 h after i syphon the gravel
