What would cause brown algea all over the tank? lighting in the tank is 2x65watt PC 50% daylight 50% acintic and 45 watts of Floures lighting?

I was having a Nitrate prob. which causes algae blooms(brown)all over the walls of the tank. Might want to test your H2O

They might be diatoms. But they could also be something different. Are they spotlike, and popping up on your substrate? Is your tank new? If yes, yes, then the brown stuff is probably diatoms. They will proliferate for a month or two, then die out. Nothing to worry about, but they do make a mess of your tank.
