Do you use Tap water?
Do you test for Phosphates?
How long has tank been up?
What are Nitrate readings?
How often do you do water changes?
What type of softies?

Answering the Tthemad1's questions would be a HUGE help in diagnosing the source of your problem - in the meantime, cut your lights to 8 hours, do big water changes every other day (20%) and scrape off as much of the algae as you can by hand before you do each water change.
Make sure you don't use tap water - even if you treat it before you mix it, tap water is the A#1 hugest cause of icky things in a SW tank.

If the algae was anywhere other than the glass, I'd suggest hermit crabs...I had a small outbreak of cyano shortly after my cycle (b/c, not realizing what a hugely bad idea it was, I used treated tapwater - only ONCE - and STILL had cyano), and they took care of it in a matter of 2 days. :joy:
