Brown stuff still in there

Ok Its been 4 or 5 days and the brown alge is still in there. I am going today to get a clown and maybe some what of a clean up crew. But i was wondering... my one little crab that has been in there for awhile is outside of his shell and is dead. What could have happended to him?? Did the brown stuff kill him?? Poor little guy.

Check your phosphates. Especially if you use tap water. If your phosphates are high, that could be why the brown algae is still there. Phosphates act like "fertilizer" for this stuff. If your phosphates are high, I would suggest using a phosphate remover in your filter. I put Phos-Zorb in mine and two days later I saw a noticable difference in the amount of brown algae in my take.
Also, if you use tap water, I would switch to RO or get Distilled water from the grociery store. Since I switched to RO, I have not had a phosphate problem.
