What is this BROWN STUFF that's appearing on all the stuff in my tank? It seems to be growing a lot more where the light is... is this stuff bad? What should I do about it? Help!!!

Yeah, my tank is only a month or so old. I only have some live rock in there, and one damsel. The other damsels died during the cycle. My tank has cycled, but I am about to add more live rock soon. You say that its diatom? What is that exactly? Is there anything that will eat that? I should just leave it alone? Thanks for your answers... I apprecaite it. - Jennifer

It's a type of algae that is common in newly cycled tanks. Do 10% weekly water changes, don't overfeed, and perhaps less hours of lighting. It will clear up. :D
You can also get a clen up crew.... snails, hermits, etc. :D

Okay! Great.. thank you so much!
I was just a little hesitant about getting a clean up crew, because I still want to add more live rock. That won't pose a problem, will it? I wouldn't want to clean up crew to die.
