i recently got a BTA on a piece of LR, i noticed that it closes up whenever my lights go on, but opens up after theyre off, is this a normal thing? i currently have 2 24" florescent tubes, 1 18k and 1 actinic blue on a 29g tank, im upgrading to 130w pc's next week.

That is really bleached, looks like it lost all of its zooxanthelae, I've read that they might shy away from light until they build their zooxanthelae back up.
IMO I would feed it meaty foods like Squidd:D and shrimp at least 3 times a week.

yea im 100% its a bta. i ordered the PC's on fri, they should be here sometime this week. i would be getting about 4.5 watts per gallon and considering my anenomes are pretty high up on the LR, im pretty sure the lights will be sufficient, if not, im sure my LFS is willing to take the anenomes off my hands.

Do you have more than one species in that tank, if so then it could be they stung each other or a chemical problem if within close proximity.

first mistake... watts per gallon are irrelevant if the intensity is poor....

theyre not too close, although my condi does move sometimes but i keep a watchful eye on it, if it gets too close i know i will need to move one of them, but i shall find out if new lights make any difference.

paul, i see. "had..." so are condies hard to take care of since they move around alot? i plan on adding some corals soon. i know the condi is a big concern, what steps can i take to make sure it wont harm my corals and other anenomes? i already have the filter intakes wrapped up, so how can i keep him from moving all over my coral and anenomies?
