I was wondering, being the experts, what you opinion of keeping a bubble tip under a 80 watt (40 watt 420/460 nm and 40 watt 10,000 K) power compact is.
Thanks
In my experience with PC and BTA's is that they can LIVE under them but they wont thrive and have great coloration. They turn more brown and the growth rate is minimal. I would look at higher par lighting like t-5 or MH lighiting for a BTA.
My green BTA was under 110 watts of PC in a 30 gallon tank for almost 1year until I upgraded my lighting. It pretty much stayed the same as the day I bought it other than darkening in color. After upgrading tanks and lighting it got the great green color back and withing a few months doubled in size. To me that was more than enough proof to me that yes they can LIVE under PC but to thrive and grow they really need a higher par lighting than PC can provide them.

the tank is a 24 gallon. 15 inches deep although the anemone is only 6 inches from the surface. The light is 3 inches above the surface. I have 2 SunPaq 40 watt bulbs in (1 420/460 nm and 1 10,000 K daylight). This lamp comes out at 3.333 WPG. If this is not enough i was thinking about purchasing the 70 watt Viper HQI Clamp Lamp (I would prefer not to have to buy this because I was planning on getting a RO unit and that would be delayed by purchasing the new lamp). I would use the Viper in tandem with my current fixture, producing 150 watts (6.25 WPG)
Thanks Admin!!!
