bubble anemone?

Can the regular floro lights be adequate enough for a bubble anemone? I have a 140 oceanic reef ready w/2 big floro lights? I was told by the lFS that if I place them on top of my LR nearest to the light that would be enough for them. Is this true? If so how much light do they need?

the bubble anemones need about 2 watts per gallon. you should upgrade to metal halide. you can try putting them at the top of the tank but i wouldnt guarentee anything will survive for too long.

I definatley wouldnt if u looking for a long survival. Even though anemones have a short survival rate under proper lighting could live for awhile. I definatley would go halide or VHO. I have 2 65 watt PCs and a 40 watt acnitic on a 55 gallon and im not even thinking abvout an anemone. Ill add one once i add on my 250 halide.

I have a bubble tip under a 660 icecap vho ballast with 4 46.5" URI bulbs...my tank is a 60g...
I dont think you would have too many problems with the lighting setup I have and a bTA...
I would not try it under regular florecents..but maybe try it under a lot of pc's and definetly under vho's...
as for everything halides are always the answer here, but don't get too caught up in the hype of that...unless of course your keeping certain sps and maybe certain clams if your tank is real deep...

For a bubble tip I would recomend getting lots of VHO, and regular feeding (3-4 times a week) lot of water flow. Also try to get a tank propogated like this one

now that my bubble tip has secured itself firmly to a crevase in a fairly large piece of live rock and I have fed it brine earlier today...I have a quick questin...
the tenticles are very thin and for some reason it doesn't look full and healthy...
could this be due to the fact that it got sucked into the powerhead and is recovering from injuries??? I am somewhat concerned

aileena...Was it sucked into a powerhead? What kind of light? Also I notice that a lot of bubble tips lose their "Bubble tips" when the PH, and ALK are not stable.

are those Ocellaris Clowns or true Percs???
Do they host in your BTA?
I am leaning toward a BTA for my Ocellaris Clowns cause they are supposed to be the easiest to keep (and can get a tank propagated one as you say)
but they aren't natural hosts for Ocellaris Clowns
Although I have heard that if they don't have a choice that your odds are better
plus I have tank breed clowns so maybe they don't really know any better and I might have better luck!!!
I have 4 watts/gallon of power compact light (200 watts over a 50 gallon)

Those are false percs..they hosted for a while and then lost interest, they both hopped out of my tank in a matter of a couple days.....most of been rumors about that darn nemo movie or something.....No it is not a natural host. If you are interested in one of the atural hosts, All I can say is Only in a species specific tank. Ritteri are hard to impossible to care for, and carpets are even harder, plus they are tank roaming fish eaters(both kinds). Sounds like a decent amount of light, if you feed them silversides and krill a couple times a week, keep your PH stable, provide a nice random current, and a good rocky place to stick their foot you will be happy with a BTA, or a rose BTA. Go tank prop, the Ocean will thank you for it.

That does not sound like a 140 gallon tank.....

Yeah, my 100g is 60 1/2" x 18 3/8" x 23 1/2"....

I have vho's four 46.5" bulbs on icecap 660 ballast...24" high tank...should I move the anemone closer to the top???
Is it ok to move it once its attached???

Your lights sound ok, If it is in a shadow it is OK to move it, don't tear it's foot, and don't move it to close to the top.

thats what I dont understand the BTA constantly is trying to move toward the bottom of the tank...but at the same time its tentacles don't seem to be very healthy...they are always stringy...should I feed it more?
