Bubble Blaster pump impeller cleaning

Anyone have trouble with these pumps building up calcium on the impeller magnet? I have the hy-1000s and every month I have to clean calcium off the impeller magnet. I have 3 powerheads and a canister filter that have magnetic impellers and they don't get ANY cacium buildup on them at all. The pump gets really noisy when it builds up and it makes the pump run hotter. So hot it shuts itself off if you let it keep running. Manufaturer says to clean it once a month with vinegar solution. I am just curious as to why it gets the buildup but the powerheads don't. The only 2 difference I see are the magnet faces downward on the BB pump and the point upwards on the powerheads. The other difference is the powerheads don't suck air in, only the BB pump.

It's easier for deposits to build up on certain materials due to the material itself, surface roughness, etc, and apparently, your PH happens to be one of those. If you like the pumps, just toss them in a bucket with some vinegar and water and run them overnight, then change out the water and run them in fresh water to rinse the vinegar out.

Sorry, I assumed you were referring to a PH, however, the same still holds true.
