It does not seem to bother him, still munching away. He has taken residence in my re lobo...could this be a sort of sting or is it some kind of disease?

Ok, another month & still no answer??? I cannot get anyone to figure this out...and now its starting to get bigger. He seems & acts ok, but we all know this is not normal and I just dont want to wait until he explodes. One other thing-its seems that this may be from the inside bulging through a hole in the skin.....I feel so bad for him

maybe get some cleaner shrimp that could clean it off of him? maybe u should quarantine him, so it does not spread to ur other fish, or pop and infect ur tank? i dont know what it is, so i dont know if this is even possible:D

Could be lymphocystis (or just a cyst caused by some sort of irritation or wound). If he's acting normally, I wouldn't worry about it. If it does happen to rupture, just make sure your water quality is great so the area won't get infected. :)
I don't want to lead you astray, but it could be some sort of bacterial infection that would need to be treated. But I don't recommend exposing a fish to an antibiotic when the cause of the symptom(s) is(are) unknown. So, unless someone has a specific answer for you, I'd just sit tight and keep the water pristine. :)

In some of those pictures, it does look like lymph. Is it like a bubble? Is it growing? Is it transparent at all?

It may be a cyst or it may be lymph. It looks pretty round with no irregularities in the shape. Is that corect?
There is not much to do, expect optimize food and tank environment.
