bubble tip growth

I bought 3 bubble tip anemones from the lfs for my maroon pair. i've had them for roughly a year and so far only one of them has split. The light system that I was using was not strong enough and they have paid for it dearly they have all stayed small around 1.5 inches to 2 inches wide. I changed lighting 3 months ago. I have them in a 55g standard with 260 watts of pc lighting. Now for my questions. I have been noticing in the live rock that I have about 15 or so small anemones, there about ¼ inch or smaller what I am wanting to know is how long does it take for them to get about an inch long, and is there any thing that I can do to help my bigger ones to grow and thrive? any info I can get about anemone and maroon husbandry will be helpfull.
Thank you all

There are so many different types of anemones, you should post a picture of some of them so that we can better help you with your question.

First off the reason your anemones are still small could be because you ha ve three anemones in the same tank. They tend to send chemicals into the water, harming and sometimes killing other anemones. I'm not positive if this could be another reason why your anemones haven't grown much, but it can't help.
The smaller anemones are probably aspia (glass anemones) and can be a pain.
I would do a bit more research on anemones. I think you are on the right track with the lighting, and 260 watts of pc should be sufficient if your BTA"s are close to the light source and your have reflectors on the lights.

I agree, a photo here would help.
From the description, I very much doubt you were sold BTAs ( Entacmaea quadricolor )
Never seen one as small as mentioned. Perhaps they are Majano sp., they tend to only get one or two inches and do have bubbled looking tips and do split. Not a hosting species.
Anyways, a hosting anemone should be around 4 to 6 or more times larger than the clown because most clowns ( esp. Maroons ) can get aggresive and '' beat up " on the anemone when hosting and only if the anemone is large and healthy enough, can it take the abuse.
