Just bot a bubble tip anenome a week ago. Water paramaters are great. I noticed today it seems to have shrunken up and I can see the inner tube. The lights have been on for about 2 hours and it still isn't out? Some of the tenacles actually look like they are "deflated"??? Is this a bad sign? I fed it frozen krill 2x's last week and have been using photoplex by Kent

This is normal, especially when new to a tank or after a big meal. Down worry about it. It should perk up. Watch to make sure there are no signs of the BTA disinigrating.

Make sure it is not deteriorating. It will like disinegrate and turn into mush. How does it look today. Basically if it is dead it will rot and foul your water. Good luck.

Thanks! Was wondering if anybody would reply! :jumping: It was all shriveled up and is starting to come out. I can still see the tube/mouth? Not really sure to expect here. Maybe I was overfeeding it? I fed 2 whole krill in the past week. Since then I've read you're really supposed to underfeed them.

I think it shriveled up do to the large meal. I have 4 BTA and I just feed my breeding pair of colwns and whatever the BTA gets, well that's his meal. I do not feed the BTA specificly, but I do make sure it gets something. Also they derive most of there nutrition from light because they are photosynthetic. People should respond thats what we are hear for. If you need anything else e-mail me @ mscarpena@msn.com. I'd be happy to help.

Direct-feeding promotes propagation. Also, of course, adding something such as Roti-Feast to the tank can add supplemented photosyn. orgs. for their constant feeding.

Hi. I have quite a few BTA's in my tank...started with one and now have 8-9. I recently removed another 4!
I don't feed mine specifically at all....two clowns are hosted by one, and the rest have moved to areas they like ....I think my clowns think they have a sprawling mansion!
Every couple of months I take a few to my LFS and 'trade' for a coral.
Sorry for all the rambling--I don't feed mine at all....They will 'inflate' and 'deflate' at various times...they have bubble tips, then they don't, then they do again....depends on how happy they are and what time of day it is and how much water movement is on/near them.
Only true determining factor is the disintegration thing....not a pretty site. Do you have a clownfish?

I have 2 clowns. One is obviously larger than the other. Also have a tomato clown. Today my BTA was out & after the lights came on, shriveled up & is now dissappeared into the live rock??????????

Wheew!!! I hope so. This is my first and a very important step for me since I do not have a reef tank. If all goes well, I'll be headed in that direction! :joy:
