Ive had this bubble tip for a while now its been in the same spot for a couple months but the tips dont look like bubbles any more. Why is it like this? It comes out from a little cave and covers the cave during the day. Could it be to much flow ( it moved to that spot when i put an mp10 in the tank, almost a foot away and right below main stream). Or mabe not enough light? ( i have 6 39w h/o t5, 50/50actinics/10000k and its about 15" below the light). Or mabe something else? Salinity 1.024,cal 420,10dkh,ph8.3,phos0.0,mag1350.

My RBTAs have bubbles during the day and they become stringy tentacles at lights out. We really don't know why they are bubbles or stringy tentacles. As long as he is stretching out at day, eating, not showing any signs, you should be fine.

No one knows the reason why some BTA's have bulbous tips and why others don't or why some have the bulbous tips and lose them. It seems that it just happens. Your nem looks fine and I would not worry.

My BTA will go through cycles like this some times even to the point where it looks like its going to die. As long as he is still attached to the rock and not on its side or not attached to anything you should be fine. When they expel waste or are digesting food or even had enough light for the day, they can shrivel or even hide for a bit. To be safe and good practice, any time you notice something different going on in the tank I would suggest doing a water test of at least the main water pram that could directly affect the BTA ie Ammonia, Nitirte Nitrate an PH. BTA are very sensitive to water conditons changing and temp! Hope all works out.
AND if it going to die or you think things are getting worse, watch it every min you get, then remove it before it starts to rot. I will kill off your whole tank!
