Bubbles from Protein Skimmer

No matter how I adjust the skimmer I get bubbles sucked into my tank. I tried extending the outlet with pvc to land the water onto the sponges (which I rapped in paint strainers to disperse the bubbles). Closing the air valve seams to take away from the skimmers effectivness.
Can anyone help?

if you are using a wet/dry put skimmer in the front part of your wet/dry by the time they get to your reture they should be gone
