buffer

I was wondering if I needed to use a chemical buffer for my tank. In my 75 I have 100#'s of live rock and use argonite/live sand for a substrate. I am also about to put some Kent Marine biosediment in my sump to help keep up my trace elements...anyway, do I need a chemical buffer or will the argonite keep the ph up?

What is your pH now?
If it is ok now, you don't need to add a buffer...
You should test your alkalinity and pH regularly.
If you find your pH dropping, there several methods out there to get it back up.
What I use, and what was recommended to me from many on this board, is Kent's Superbuffer DKH. It works great. Alkalinity comes up within an hour, and pH within 24 hours.

Also, pH can easily fluctuate a little throughout the day...unless it is a major change, you may not need a buffer.
