Bugs? What the...????

OK I tossed 3 shrimp into my 58 yesterday to cycle it. Have been avoiding the room all day because it's smelly... went in tonight to turn off the lights and there are BUGS on the wall all around the tank?
I don't know where they came from, it was 90 here today and we had the house closed up tight with the AC on. I'm afraid to spray them because they are too close to the tank.
I am so disgusted!!! Between the smell and the bugs I am about ready to give up already.

That doesn't sound pleasant.
I was lucky not to have bugs while cycling w/shrimp. The smell will eventually go away. And I agree with you, I would not spray anything near the tank.

Roll up your sleeves, get a wash cloth, and take them out manually. Also make sure they are not getting into your tank.

They seem to have disappeared as fast as they appeared. The smell is still pretty nasty but either it's getting better or I'm getting used to it. Either way, I don't think we'll be having company over until the cycle is done... :p
Thanks guys...

depending on the type of bugs, you might be able to kill them with soapy water. I use dishwater soap water in a spray bottle and it kills ants, moths, pincher bugs etc. This would be easy to keep oput of the tank by just covering the tank while you spray the soapy water.
