Hi All. I have this idea to build a live sand bed (for breeding sand critters) but not sure it #1 it will work and #2 when to do it.
I've got a 20 gal with some small pieces of cured LR, 25lbs sand, 2 small powerheads, heater & hang on filter.
I want to seed the tank with some stuff from IPSF. Specifically: Live Sand Activator, (Reef Amphipods, microhermits, etc.), WonderMud, Floating Sargassum, Sand Bed Clams, Baby Bristle Worms, Mama Mia Worms PLUS MiniStars.
I want to do this because I think if I add this package directly to my main tank, all the little critters will get eaten before they can multiply. I'd like to let them multiply in the 20 gal and then seed my 50 gal over time.
#1 - See any problems with this idea?
#2 - Does the 20 gal need to be fully cycled before I add this package? Ammonia is at 1.0 and Nitrite is at 0.50. Salinity is 0.023. Temp 80.
