building a sump, a few questions

Hello - I just purchased a 40 gallon breeder and am starting my sump build tomorrow. I am sure I will have more questions as the planning continues, but first off.
1.) I have an Equa EV-120 skimmer, what height is the maximum water level this will operate at. Does the output have to be above the water level?
2.) Also, what is the best way to do the fuge so that pods are more likely to reach the DT, just have it overflow over a straight piece or glass? Install three dividers (two touching the bottom and one raised)?
Thanks in advance.

3.) I have a lifereef MRC-1 calcium reactor, I would like to go ahead and put this in sump. Aside from heat issues, what are the advantages/disadvantages from putting the calcium reactor in sump. Does water level matter at all, as long as it is not completely submerged?

1. The water level is best to be below the output to some extent. If it's above the output, then whatever water level it is will be the lowest you can set the water level to in the skimmer. If you have to, use a couple little chunks of PVC pipe or something to raise the skimmer up a bit.
2. The pods will reach the DT no matter what you do. It's best to set up your system so that the skimmer is not skimming fuge effluent, so you want to make sure your skimmer is getting water that is coming from the tank, not water that has already passed through your fuge.
3. There aren't any advantages or disadvantages, other than if the reactor leaks, it would be nice if it leaked in the sump. I've never put a calcium reactor in the sump before.
4. GE Silicon 1, Window and Door, Clear. Make sure it does NOT include a mold or mildew inhibitor.
