Building A Tank

I'm considering building my own acrylic tank and am curious how difficult it really is and roughly what it would cost to build a 65 gallon. I have read some DIY articles and understand the process, but would like to hear some opinions of people who have done it. Did you run into any serious problems that I should be aware of? Is it really that much cheaper than buying a tank? I want to do something around 48x18x18 (roughly 67 gallons).

Super easy.....you could do it, don't know actually pricing on already built tanks, but the key is prep work....Have the acrylics dealer cut the pieces for you and they can clean up the edges for you by running them over the jointer. Have them cut the pieces slightly larger than you need, that way after assembly you can take a flush trim router bit and remove the excess material....I would suggest using WeldOn 4 over WeldOn 3. WeldOn 3 sets up to quick IMO....You can also use WeldOn 40, but check out the price on that......

I used Weld-on 3 and then ran Weld-on 40 like caulking on all my seams. No leaks up and running about a year.

Hey Gypsana...have u worked with the WeldOn 4? I use to use 3 all the time, but after trying 4 you won't go back......WeldOn 40 is the security......

I did not try the #4. I do not plan on making anything soon, but I will definitely check it out in the future. I really liked the security of the #40.
