Building my own mh's

Im sure this has been brought up before but I am really cheap but want the best for my reef. Right now I have the smart light pc or vho... dont know what the classify it as. I want to have mh's and have heard several people refer to some parts they pick up at home depot or where ever and build their own. I dont want a canopy just two mh's for my 55. if anyone can help me or direct me to where I may learn how to do this I would greatly apprecitate it.

Aquatic Lighting Systems has a DIY MH setup. I just bought one last weekend and put it together. I really like it. You might consider the amount of room you have to work with when you think about the bulbs you want to buy. What I mean is that if you get a 12000K bulb you will not have to install an actinic bulb as well as the MH over your tank. I did not have room for an actinic so I bought the 12000K. I built a box for the light and installed a fan from All Electronics Corp.. They had some of the best prices, Radio Shack was too expensive. Good luck!
