Built in refugium (algae scrubber) ???????

I've been thinking about making my overflow tunnel on my 90 gal pre drilled tank into a refugium. I could put a small bed below the pre filter sponge and drain tube. I could put a small light on that area without affecting the main part of the tank. I don't know if it will work. What do you think????

i've seen this done mainly to quiet the overflow but not sure of the bio effect as it's a verlimited area.Don't see what ir could hurt Go for it

DWF, I don't think that it would be large enough to make real difference. I can't see how it would work as a ATS either...maybe I'm missing something.
