i need some help. i have 3 halides over my tank in lumenarc mini reflectors.
they are 2 x 250 watt hamilton 14k's on the outsides, powered by electronic ballasts, and 1 x 400 watt reefluc 12k in the middle powered by a magnetic ballast.
i am looking to change out all three. these are single ended bulbs, so i can try phoenix.
what have the best PAR, and aren't yellow, or plain looking?

If you like the 14k look try the Aquaconnects or Ushios. Both seem like they have pretty good PAR.

Do Radiums come in single ended?
I have heard they are a great bulb with high par ratings. Lots of people use their 20K not as blue as other 20K's and a lot more par.

i mis-typed. i meant that i cannot use phoenix. but i do like that color. ok, so radium 20k, or 14k aquaconnects. the ushio 14k looks too white in my tank(i have one in 400 watts).
i am not opposed to one color on the outside and another color in the middle, like i have now....

The Radium 400s are actually 360 watt bulbs so if you use them they will last around 6 months. They do look good though. I have never been able to find aquaconnects anywhere online. I just got a 12k reeflux (400 watt) and like the color and intensity but I am going to try the XM 10 and 20 k bulbs very soon.

my 12k reeflux is quite blue. i like it. do you know the difference in PAR between that, and the Xm 20k?

The PAR tests that Sanjay did don't seem right for the Reeflux. Someone else on -- did some tests and the PAR was at least twice what Sanjay got. Not exactly sure of numbers between the Reeflux and XM, but Sanjay's site might be the place to start and at least get a comparison. I personally like the look of the Reeflux.
I don't think Phoenix makes SE bulbs.
