Bulb question

I have a 24G nano cube with 2 36w bulbs. I have a couple of questions. My lights went out Sat night and I was wondering if they are like normal Flouresents, where when one goes out the other one wont come on. The other question is can I use a bigger wattage bulb? I saw a 64W at my lfs.

they should have independent ballast so if one fails the other should still work fine, also you would have to replace the ballast in order to use a stronger bulb. the ballast is rated for the bulb, its a set.
