A local fish store had two of these today . Like 5-6 inches. They were selling them for $299.99 and somebody bought both of them. Beautiful fish.Wish I had the money.
If that's the Epinephelus lanceolatus, they get MASSIVE. Related to the Goliath Grouper (formerly known as Jewfish) in Carribean and Florida waters, these bad boys rule the reefs in Queensland and adults weigh in at 1300lbs.

LOL.
In some parts of the country I can see Grouper fillets going for $10-$15 a lb. So that sounds about right.

Really? I guess I won't be eating that grouper.LOL
Bumble bee groupers are such an incredible animal. An LFS that I worked for years ago had one in that was a bit larger than the one in the picture above. He was in a large 500 gallon display. After successfully killing a huge porcupine puffer and almost a large green moray eel, they removed the grouper and put it in a tank for sale. After doing this, the fish flipped upside down and never righted itself, leading everyone to think that the fish was sick, dying, or had a swim bladder problem. The fish sat in a 60 gallon tank for months like this at a price of $300. It would even eat upside down. Finally, someone bought it for their large display. After only hours of buying it, it was once again swimming upright again. I will never forget that fish.

The fish in that pic is massive, it was posted by the owner on another board, and the full tank shot of it in a 210, made the 210 look like a goldfish bowl.
LOL. It would look sweet in that guy who had a 600 gallon tank built. I thought 300 was alot for the one at the lfs but when I went to the lfs that had the huge one in a dislay they told me they had a little one the same size about a year ago for $1000. I love the hobby but I have kids. I would have to start selling kids and body parts or ut my credit score at 100.LOL
