buried anemone... In 2 seconds?

So this morning at 0500, I'm doing my usual routine of adding my calcium and Ph buffer, and blah, blah, blah (same thing I have done every morning for the past year). and this morning, right after I put in the calcium, reached down for the buffer... and whoa... wtf, where did the 9 inch carpet anemone go? I looked everywhere, I mean where could something that siz, go so fast? Then I realized it wen under the sand!! I didnt expose it again as I figured if it went there it could get back out. The carpet anemone was pinkish, green and about 8inches 2 months ago. I bought it at that size for $30 dollars, I figured it was not super healthy because of the color, but at 30 bucks for that size, i couldnt pass it up. Since I have gotten it, it has progressively gotten greener, and bigger. Meaning it was doing well IMHO. My oscellaris left my bubble tip and took over the bigger home in like one day. Then this happened this morning. He had been in the same place in the tank for about 5 or 6 weeks, but this past week moved about 3 inches from his rock crevice. Again he looked totally healthy. I just did a water change last pm, and everything looked good as far as water parameters. all the other fish and the corals look great. the bubble tip has moved up the wall a bit, but otherwise looks great. No issues anywhere, when I saw him this morning he looked great too. I have no idea whats going on and cant find anything on the threads.... any help please!!

What calcium and alkalinity additives are you using?
Why are you adding calcium so early in the morning for?
Should be alkalinity in the moring before lights on, then calcium in the evening. Not necessarily back to back like it sounds like you were doing.
Glass tank bottom?, can you see the bottom? from the underside?
