busted themometer

my themometer busted in my tank but the mercury didnt come out but it had some little black beads in it I dont know what they are but I was wondering what it will do to my tank, also im just starting to cycle my tank its been about 10 days.

If it broke, take it out. Dont take any chances. It may not do a thing now but it could hurt in the long run when you put live stock in your tank.

I believe the beads are just to weight it down so it stays in place. Yes...definitely take it out.

Are you sure you have a Hg thermometer?
They are usually not available to the general public.
It must be an old one if it really is Merc.
