thanks for making me feel like an idiot. but i guess i should have used better words. i know butterflies are pretty hard to keep. but is the golden like the copper band where its really really really hard to keep? would u go with a golden butterfly or a queen angel? in comparing their care level and temperament

I thought the Racoon's and Threadfins were suppose to be much easier to keep? Not from experience though.

IF you think a CBB is hard to keep, you probably dont need another Butterflyfish

Ive kept puncanto butterflies with great success. I would certainly describe them as hardy in the proper tank (no aggressive fish and good water quality). The golden butterflies are suppose to adapt very well to captivity. Ive also seen many people successfully keep racoon butterflies without issue.

Heniochus are great.
Masked/yellow butterflies from red sea are tough--pristine water is a minimum.
Fenner's book has a great list in it of butterflies to avoid, and those that 'most' aquarists would be successful with....

thanks for your help. i think i might go with 2 butterflies. 1 racoon and 1 eclipse. i know that most people say that racoon's are easier then most butterflies; but they are a butterfly so it takes a lot to keep it healthy. does anyone know anything about the eclipse? and do butterflies do best in groups or solo...?
