My butterfly fish hass something going on with it and i can not tell if it is ich or not. If someone could please take a look at the picture and give me an idea on how to cure it and what it is that would be GREAT! I do not have a hospital tank set up so he is in there with a goby, clown, and a damsel. The damsel looks ok and acts ok, but the clown is not acting right and either is the diamond goby. He is not sifting through the sandd any more. Thanks

looks like lympho.i just had a couple fish get over it.my hippo looked that bad.actually you dont treat it in a qt.the trick to this is less stress .good food soaked in vitamins.and about two months .the lympho is transferred only by contact to other fish.i would keep the light off .only turn it on to look at him.make sure the water test perfect.sometime they make it sometimes not.but the cure is just good food and stress free environment

I have never done any soaking of the food. What type of food are you using and what are you soaking it in. Thanks

How long have you had the Butterfly? Add anything new to the tank (rocks/coral/invert)?
Looks like a bit of lympho brought on by an outbreak of Velvet or Ich. The only cure for Velvet is an immediate copper treatment (hypo is too slow), and the only cures for Ich is either copper or hypo. If the fish makes it past tonight and into tomorrow, its not Velvet.

Assuming this is ich, you'll need to treat all your fish. Getting rid of this parasite isn't easy, but absolutely necessary. Search this site for procedures and get a QT before you get any new fish.
