Buyer Beware T5 Fixture

Just wanted to give a warning about a T5 fixture i purchased from aquatrader. It was an Odysea 48 inch T5 4 bulb fixture for around 100.00. Great deal. I read a lot about it and reviews and they were mixed. I went ahead and made a terrible mistake. This fixture is crap. Out of the box the lights would not start, 2 of 4 started. spent 30 minutes playing with fittings and wires to get them started. Obvious they were not making good contact with connectors at endcaps. Got them working and said okay they look great. Same problem next AM when they came on . Had to remove cover, open canopy, play with wiring EVERY SINGLE DAY. Now one of them will not light at all. Have done everything but rewire the light. Sent email to aquatrader on 12-11 and got no response. Web site says response in 48 hours. dont believe that. Sent second one next weeek still no responsed. Finally called them and got a super good runaround. I persisted and was given another email address for tech support and returns. mailed that day which was 12-29 and still no response from them. I was never allowed to talk with anyone about a return. Her response was that she did not have access to any email capability at the site and the staff were not on site. Poor customer care if any. It is obvious they have no intention of a resolution. I had a previous Odysea PC that is 4 months old and one of switchs has went bad and shoots sparks when you cut it on, These fixtures are a serious danger. STAY AWAY FROM THESE. I am going to file a report with BBB as well. Ordered a Current MH fixture today. Hope to get these out of my house soon. Someone might could use fixture and retro it. Just a warning for all.

It's amazing how the perception of a deal will make us abandon our better judgement...
I went through this with a chiller once. I knew I should spend a little extra and get one I knew was good... but the price was "soooooo goooooddd" You get what you pay for I guess...

Scsinet, maybe you can help me out on this, lol I know you can help me out on this.
If the fixture cost a hundred could he not buy a new ballast and just rewire it and make it just like a name brand unit? like I did on the odyssey 250 watt HQI fixture? Are the components more expensive for T-5.
It seems to me the fixture itself is the gold and everything else is just replacing it. Sure it might be a hassle or PITA but seems to me with the just the empty fixture one could make an awesome fixture the way they wanted it to be.
All I know is I saved a boat load of money when I bought the odyssey 250 fixtures and moded them with ice cap ballast and swapped out the aluminum wire they used.
