Hey everyone. Brand new addictee here. I have finally decided to take the plunge, so to speak. I have comitted to buying a 75 gallon acrylic tank that has a tang and another fish in it that she can't remember the name to and I haven't seen it enough to id it. I have to build a stand for the tank, as she has it on a counter. I don't have the specifics on the lights and pumps and all of that yet, but will post when I do. What I'm trying to figure out right now is about moving it. She has about 50 pounds of live sand and 75 to 90 lbs live rock. The tank has been set up for about 6 years and hasn't been maintained all that much lately, which is why she is selling it. How much of the water that she has in there do I need to move when I move the tank? She has hermits and turbos in there too, I think. Any ideas on how to make this easier rather than harder? Advice? Thanks from a complete newbie. Lisa

Welome to the forums and the hobby. You should keep about 50 to 75 % of the water keep the rocks wet (cover with tank water saturated newspaper)
if trip is under 1 hour, if longer put rocks in containers with salt water, drain water, carefully scoop sand being carefull to keep it the way you took it out to avoid nitrate and bacteria spikes or disruption and try to put it back in the way you got it. good luck and keep us posted. if you do it this way you should avoid a cycle.
