I know its not in my salad. where should I locate it , on the sand bed or on a rock , water flow should be direct or indirect , high up towards the lights or down near the bottom.

first off, what are you doing with cabbage in the tank? if you are trying to feed herbivores, i would not reccommend it...and i would not reccommend feeding them anyhtign that didnt come out of the ocean...instead get either nora seaweed from your grocer or somethign like seaweed selects from your lfs....much better for the fish's health!
good luck

Very hardy coral no matter where you put it. In general, soft corals like low to moderate water flow.

I've noticed that I need to move all my corals around to see how they respond to the tank conditions.
Lighting and water movement can be different with each of our tanks.
What one person considers intense high lighting - another person may consider those same conditions as being moderate.
Just move it around - let it sit several days - notice how it responds - then either leave it or try another spot.
