my calcium was at 420 a few months ago.. today I checked, and its at 360.
I did change my salt from Sera to Instant Ocean. Its been about a month now since the change.
But I still dose Kalk in my top off water as always. I do Half a teaspoon per gallon is what I always did and do.
Should I put in 1 teaspoon per gallon now? will that raise my calcium?
I have about 4 hard corals that need calcium.
I also noticed my coraline algae for several months now has not been growing..
Plz help :notsure:

Kalkwasser is supposed to maintain your Caclium and Alk readings.. If your calcium was 420 and you were dosing and your calcium dropped I would say you are note dosing enough..
Is the Kalkwasser your adding a home made "pickling lime"? from Mrs. Wages or another company? or is it the expensive mix stuff?
I use Mrs. Wages and I have a constant drip of the Kalkwasser going on all day.

instant ocean has less calcium then many of the other salts.. i just read an article on this board i think about it... it was some sort of sea salt test...
that could be the cause if everything else is the same.

I know IO has less salt. But I thought my KALK dose would have maintained it.
Should I get oceanic salt, which I read is high in calcium, and mix it with my IO? Or what do I do?
Thanks

Oceanic is higher in calcium, but be careful...I had to use it for a couple of water changes and my calcium went too high, from being too low to begin with (I did add some success ca+ though) Now I'm back to instant ocean for awhile to bring it down

Get your dkh at 8, calcium at 420, and ph around 8-8.4 first by treating each one individually. After you get your three parameters on target, you can then dose kalkwasser safely and effectively.
