Calcium

I finally broke down and bought a calcium test kit "salifert" I think I did the test correctly and my levels were off the chart over 500ppm. What kind of damage will high calcium levels cause? My lfs said that you can't have too much calcium in your tank. Who do you believe? How do you bring the level down? About 10min. before the test I changed 5g of my 55g tank. I'm getting really frustrated and would appreciate any advise!!!

I add calcium supps to my tank twice a week and my leather corals have flourished along with my green mushrooms. I don't believe too much calcium could be much of a problem.

Indy1, be careful with high (550+) calcium levels. With ph levls of 8.2 or higher, supersaturation can occur. This will make your job a lot more difficult to have a balanced aquarium! JMO Cooder
