i have some questions on these rays.
1. if you get stung is it deadly
2. how big do they get in diameter.
3. what are the chances of being stung
4. will a glove help you from being stung.
thanks!!!

1) No
2) I believe about 16" but don't feel like cracking open a book... should be easy enough to find with a minute of research
3) I've had a couple rays and never felt a real threat of sting. Just have to be careful when they are buried and you don't see them. I've accidentally put the siphon down on mine at times.
4) No need for gloves... they wouldn't protect you and these animals are very smart and very tame once they get used to you.
FYI, these are colder water rays. They need about 72 degrees.

I wouldn't worry about being stung... I've had rays for years and never been stung. But none that I know of, even in the wild, are deadly. Bluespots and yellows live in warmer waters. Bluespots are very delicate and hard to keep alive for a long time in a tank. Yellows are very hardy, inexpensive and relatively easy to find. In addition, they are one of the smaller species of aquarium stingray. You could also consider a bullseye ray if you could find one.
They need a deep enough substrate to be able to bury themselves. 2 inches is a good depth.

Almost no rays for sale will be daedly. As for how much it hurts i have never been stung by a lion but would think that the stingray would be more painful since the stinger i believe breaks off and gets stuck in your skin sometimes. Please correct me if im wrong but i think im right from what ive seen/expierienced.

I had a cali ray for a few months he was the coolest little guy.he was hand fed 2 times daily(they eat like crazy) he loved to be petted right between his eyes stimey was about 4-5 inches around just a lil guy I had him in my 48x12x18 refuge.unfortunatly stimey had an accident a few weeks back . he managed to flip himself out of his tank onto my filter media.it was a very sad say it braught lots of tears to my eyes
.as for being stung dont touch their tails and you wont get stung.as far as finding the perfect tank size many aquarium companies will make you a custom tank to fit your basic requirements .depends on how much your willing to invest
