But I started up a pico tank utilizing aipstasia and some other anenome thats considered problematic for its inhabitants. I always try and keep as many pieces of LR rubne etc as I can, as its all good, but there is a limit on how much you can actually put in any tank and still retain a decent look, so when I trim a piece of LR that has a frag on it to fit in the area I want, I usually end up with lots of rubble etc. So I took a 2.5 gal AGA and have been throwing my scrap pieces in it. I have also started adding aipstasia as well. I have some Aipstasia that is yellow or florescent green / yellow and some that appears to be whiteish in color, and is quite nice looking especially under actinic or lunar lights.....So what I wound up with is a tank full of rubble on a LS bed, planted with aipstasia and it looks super.......Added a small sand star from the gulf of mexico (typical florida sand star) which is about the size of a nickle and a couple of tiny blue leg hermits and a cerith snail and its doing just fine. Have a 13 watt PC 50/50 and one lunar light over it, with a AC 20 hob filter. I forget the name of the other type of anemone, but its name starts with the letter M, and is very similar to aipstasia. It has a main stem like xenia does, and its tenticles are more symetrical and rounded on the ends.....instead of pointed and tapering like aipstasia.

If you don't QT your fish in your main tank, you may be able to use the aip tank to assist with ich elimination; you will need to connect the tanks, however.

You lost me there Beth......Are you saying aipstasia is a means of controlling Ich? Knock on wood, so far so good, no problems with sickness or parasites..........but according to the rules of the universe, its inevitable that someday that will more than likely change......its in the stars!
