Calupera in a cycling tank?

dissolution

My tank is cycling right now, I've got about 4 pounds of live rock in it (its only a ten gallon) and while I was at one of the LFS I bought some Calupera because I was hoping it would help "seed" my pod population.
OK move or stupid? I'm mainly wondering if it will delay the tank cycling at all.
Thanks!

It shouldn't effect the cycle but any pods on the calupera may not survive the cycle. Calupera absorbs nitrates which is the end stage of the cycle, you will still have ammonia and nitrite production. Do plenty of water changes to keep your ammonia from going to high to minimize the die off on your live rock.

I am new to salt water. That being said:
Most I talk to who are experienced in SW do not recommend caulerpa. It can release toxins and wipe out your tank. I had caulerpa and removed it and replaced it with chaeto. Still cleans the Nitrates out, but you don't have the danger of it releasing.
I don't know. Maybe someone else will chime in? Also it multiplies like crazy and grows these barbs and is a nightmare to remove. You pull on it, but it leaves its barbs and just regrows. You just keep tearing and tearing and it keeps growing right back!
