Camcorder Lighting Question

I have a Sony DCR-TVR27 MiniDV camcorder that I've had for a couple of years. I'm looking to purchase a light to enhance indoor shooting as some of my Christmas shots were a little dark. I know nothing about using lights on a camcorder.
Does anyone have a light on a Sony? If so, what do you use? I've found some 3Watt ones which get so-so reviews.

Off topic but that brought back some Christmas memories. We had to wait in our rooms until my dad had his 8mm camera ready. Then we would rush downstairs and see NOTHING. Because we were blinded by my dad holding 2 flood lights in some contraption. The films show us squinting as we try to see our chistmas presents.
Now back to T99's questions. Where is Ryebread when you need him?

......depending if you have a dedicated hot shoe or not. Does the shoe have any pins in it for contacts to meet up with?

Hey RYE! How you been?
Yes, it has an Intelligent shoe that has a lot of contacts. It can power the device itself and other stuff.
I was looking at that one, but 3 watts does not sound like enough light. Is that the case?

It's a lot brighter than what you would think a 3 watt light should be. Plus they are balanced for the very sensitive aperture of the night shot modes on those Sony camcorders. I've seen them in action and I thought it did a nice job. If you put one of those universal lights on there that is more powerful.......get ready for some blown out overexposed video. Good luck.
