My dad wants a new digital camera, either the olympus camedia c-750 or the cannon powershot s400
which one would you recommend?
Or
if you know a good one i can get for about $300-350, that would be great.
thanks

I have a cannon A60. A friend of mine has a S300 and loves it. I only paid $70 for my A60, so I really like that. I personally haven't liked the olympus cameras I have used. I would choose the cannon over the olympus, but features may push your decision.
http://www.steves-digicams.com is a good place for some research.

I really like my Canon S50. A little more than your price range, but IMO well worth every penny. Lots of manual control, but fully automatic as well.

I wasnt thrilled with olympus, not even sure what it was about it either, I just didnt like it.
The new cannon S1 IS is a nice camera, however its only 3.1MP and $500 but has image stabilization and nice clean pix even in manual mode right out of the box, has fold out and swivel screen(small though) and 32Mb card but not the best battery life. Its only been ont he market for about a month now, I bought one when they first came out but returned it a week later.
The Minolta Z1 is a nice package for $300, however, I couldnt keep my hand still enough most of the time. Pics were kinda noisy but I didnt mess too much with the manual mode. They also carry these at Walmart now, good or bad...?
I settled with the FZ10 from Panasonic. Its got 12x zoom with image stabilization 4.0Mp and almost as clean pix as the canon. Plus it has a manual focus ring and lens hood which both come in handy for taking tank shots...but it is also $530-600
