I was looking for people's opinion on digital camera's. I am looking to spenda significant (up to $1000, possibly more) amount on one. I was wondering if there is any use in going from an 8 megapixel camera to say a 12 or so. So if anybody could give me a suggestion of an awesome camera I could buy, it would help out a lot!

Nikon D-70 Digital SLR is in that price range. I have the Nikon D-100 a bit more money both are super cameras, and compatable with Nikon lenses.
As far as 12 megapixels they are available in some full frame professional image sensor cameras and unless you intend on printing poster size prints is a very costly overkill.
