I use a Nikon coolpix 10mp
but the real trick is learning how to use the camera
Here some shots I have taken

I say Trumpet Coral others say Candy Canes
(Caulastrea curvata)
I will say that I am a terrible photographer and that is what I can make this camera do...

Those pics from GeoJ are great!
Somewhere in these forums are tips from Saxman who takes phenomenal pictures.
Decent shots can be taken from "point and shoot" cameras of you play with white balance,
exposure, get square to the glass, turn off power heads and such.
Hopefully you can search and find those pic tips.

Your post got me playing with the camera and the lighting of the tank

I had to remove all the actinic lighting to get the bluing from the light removed.

I just learn some new things about my point and shoot camera
White balance: I learned how to set the manual preset, So now when I take a shot I don't need to change the lighting, the picture colors looks closer to what I see, no more blue shots when I see white.
ISO sensitivity: I don't fully understand it but the basics are the speed that the picture is taken, lower numbers take longer and higher are faster, So if I have a tripod I can use lower ISO and get a sharper picture, or with hand held shots I can use higher numbers to reduce blur from shaking in the camera or movement in the subject.
