can a cleaner shrimp acctually cure ick?

Hi:
cleaner shrimp may help in reducing a number of parasite which reside on the outside of th efish. problem is that ich buries itself into the flesh of the fish beneath the scales. The cleaner won't help much there.
I guess overall they may reduce very very light superficial infections.
To me whats more cool is seeing the interactions of a cleaner shrimp, and fish.
