Can Aiptasia kill a horse?

I had to move a few rocks in the horse tank yesterday and was horrified to find two big aiptasia on the backside of one that I never knew were there. I had a male Reidi unexpectedly die a couple of weeks ago - no apparent signs of injury or illness - - might it have gotten stung and, if so, would that be enough to kill it?

Yes, they can. If not directly, the spot of the sting can become infected. However, if big enough the toxin from the aptasia can be enough to take the seahorse down within a few hours.

I guess I may have to assume that's what took out my male Reidi. He was fine one day and dead the next, and the remaining three horses look and act as healthy as a "horse".
I may have to remove ALL the rock this weekend and do a thorough inspection.

I've had a dwarf killed by an appi before I threw out the live rock , but never had an appi in my large horse tanks [ knock on wood ]. That being said , I do believe they can take out a large horse from what I saw my poor dwarf go through, lots of pain..she went it a few minutes , I suspect a larger horse would take more time , but the same fate..it was really, really sad

Found three and used boiling lemon juice on them -- will see tomorrow if there's any sign of life from them or if it did the trick.

heh,heh...... I added a pep shrimp to my horse tank. Four dollar snack for the horses. They tore it apart....it was brutal. I thought I was safe getting a larger-sized shrimp, but no joy. They just dissected it with their slurp guns.

oh my.
I have one that hides under the rocks and my horses never bother it. maybe because it was there first.

Thus again proving there are no absolutes in this hobby -- no hard and fast rules. I have a bunch of peppermint shrimp living in the tank with my porcupine puffer -- that is NOT supposed to be possible but they are often side by side. Puffer wasn't told he was supposed to eat shrimp.
