I have had a wonderful growing colt that split many times and recently saw 2 large bristle underneath the colt. today all colts aren't strectching and what's are worse is one branch is literally chew up and cut in half, releasing toxic materials into the water. I don't know if i should cut the damaged area using a blade or just try to take out the small live rock and get these 2 bristles out. any opinion please.

I can't say anything about the damaged animal, but I can tell you that if you see two bristleworms, you probably have lots more of them. I, too, have a worm problem, and am posting under the heading bristleworm! Hope we get some hits and some help!

It may very well be that the bristle worms chewed the colt. There have been mixed opinions about bristle worms being safe in reefs or not. But if you want to remove the worms they sell bristle worm traps in pet stores.
