Can fish go blind?

I assume they can

I have had a damsel for a year now and it started to hover on the bottom even when the light are on so I moved it to my QT just to watch it for a few days, well today when I was feeding him he knew food was in the water and was trying to get it but kept on missing...then it went to the bottom and was looking for the food and after a bit located it as if he could not see it but could smell it...idk might just be me

Yes, by disease or injury, but also many cave fish that live in total darkness are blind (not talking about an aquarium cave here, rather a real cave).
