125 gallon, I have right now only a few fish, 6 line wrasse, bicolor angel, yellow tail damsel, 4 stripe damsel, madarin goby, velvet damsel, 2 hawkfish, blue spot puffer, red star, and serphant star. all fish are small up to 21/2". serphant 12". I have about 60lb or so live rock. Could I ad any corals to this tank. I have 2 canister filters and am adding a prism skimmer, flourescent lighting with pink actinic saltwater bulbs included. Thanks jim.

Is your fixture T5's?. You say pink actinic do you mean blue? The fish you have are fine, caution on the Bicolor and Puffer.

Mushrooms don't care about the lighting....and there are lots of different ones to select from to add some color to the tank. Not Acans, but to list a few you can do under regular lights:True blue, green stripe metallic, red with blue spots and regular red. They spread nice and they don't require special care.

Puffer can and have eaten mushrooms. At least mine did. After a bad decision he went back to the store for credit. Now I am propagating mushrooms again. In a few months I should have around fifty new mushrooms to spice up the tank again. Just an FYI. Get one or two brown mushrooms, or zoos. If he doesn't eat them in a week you should be good.

I never had a puffer...I thought they just at other smaller fish. Thanks for catching that, I agree with you, buy some cheap testers to see if your fish will eat them or not.

Puffers like many other fish will eat what they find in the environment, pods, inverts, corals, fish. Mainly they are invert eaters. The two large teeth are great for tearing open shells. So hermits, snails, clams, crabs, etc.
I had a porcupine years back that wouldn't attack anything in the tank. I had a banded shrimp that lived for years, snails, hermits, etc and it never caused an issue. The dog face on the other hand eats everything. So to each their own, not a good hobby fish but I would question throwing a few hundred dollars down the drain before a little trial with the cheap stuff. .02
