Don't use any additives. What did you use to start off your cycle? It isn't safe to put anything in if there is still ammonia present. What test kits are you using?

I wouldn't just yet .. Wait til your ammonia and nitrite are at 0. ammonia is a big threat to your fish.

Not until ammonia and nitrite are at 0 for at least week. I personally wouldnt have added any chemical to the tank to help cycle but too late. Do you have live rock and live sand in there?

Remember patience is the key to success; wait until ammonia and nitrite are zero, then do a 25% water change. Then for one week feed the tank just like there was a fish in there, test for ammonia and nitrite at the end of the week if they are at zero then you are OK for fish. If they aren't at zero then feed every other day, let the tank keep growing bacteria for another week, then test for ammonia and nitrites again, keep this up until ammonia and nitrites are zero. Remember when feeding that, with the exception of some ambush predators, a fish's stomach is about the size of its eyeball, so a feed a very small amount 2-3 times a day.

It is in central Missouri. Nothing but corn fields and dirt roads in any direction.
I'm from Tahoe, CA. I miss it dearly!!

Yes you will need a clean-up crew. Your sand will need to be cleaned and your glass will have algae growing on it. Maybe a couple astrea snails.

A lot has to do with age and academic achievement. If you are still in high school, you have a pretty good shot. If you are already half way through college it is a bit harder. You can go talk to a recruiter and he/she will be able to help you out a little more if you have already taken the ASVAB.
