Can I feed my star this?

My red starfish is *suppose* to be an algea eatter and I have seen it eatting algea off the rocks and glass. However one leg is getting shorter then the rest so I figure it's more like a veg and meat eatter.
I've tried giving it the froozen brine but all I managed to do is knock it off the glass and send it upside down on a rock

The only other thing I can think of tring is the froozen shrimp in the freezer? It's "human" food but is raw. Can I try slipping it a peice of that?
Hum? I could try a bit of the seaweed I have for the Tangs to I guess. Only problem is it spends 99% of it's time on the glass, not quite sure how I'm going to give it to it without knocking it down again

What kind of star is it again? I can't remember.
Is it a sand sifter star? Or a brittlestar? Or something else?

I lifted it right up and put it on the shrimp it just crawled off. It crawled onto the seaweed when I put it down but then went off as quick as it went on.
