We have a 155 gallon with 220 pds of live rock. This tank has been set up now for about 5 years and we have a large bubble tip among other corals.
We now have 2 small percs and we want to get a maroon. We would like to get a pair but from what we read a single is better.
Also we read that they will bully any fish smaller than themselves. We have gobies and they are smaller, is there any risk?
Please advise

i wouldnt get one. 1st, its never a good idea to mix any types of clownfish. 2nd, Maroon clowns are usually well tempered when there juveniles but when they grow up they are mean fish. I asked someone at my lfs (he is pretty experienced with saltwater) he said back when he was starting out he got one of those and it killed half of his fish until he got the maroon out.
But ive also heard of people having these fish and they were fine with other fish.
I would definantly not reccomend a maroon clown because it will prabably fight the other clowns/fish.

Maroons get big, ugly, and mean. Have one, hope to get rid of her, hope to never see one again. She chases the other fish, rearranges the rock and sand to her pleasure, and even killed her anemone. If there was ever a fish who deserved to be introduced to the shark tank, this wold be the one.
...Tho, I'd bet on the dam fish over the shark!

The Maroon clownfish is one of the biggest and most beautiful of the clownfish species that are commonly kept. It has a maroon red body with thee narrow white vertical stripes. The maroon clownfish should be kept in an aquarium no smaller than 30 gallon / 120 L. A larger aquarium is recommended if you want to keep a group of them as they as earlier mentioned can be very aggressive towards other clownfish. The aquarium should be decorated with a lot of hiding places. They are reef safe and will do best in reef aquariums with a lot of live rock with a healthy algae growth.
